This Cervelo S5 was built to be the perfect balance of performance-orientated equipment to meet the budget. Hence the bike required a number of the latest technologies, primarily disc brakes. Second, to the increased stopping power, the bike was also outfitted with SRAM Force AXS and Zipp 454 NSWs.

 

 

The Cervelo S5’s  Zipp 454 NSWs provide the ultimate in aerodynamic performance while still meeting a respectable wheel weight for road wheels. Their 58mm depth ensures that the rider’s efforts result in maximum speed. They further help through the Cognition Axial hub, which allows for less friction, allowing the rider to keep their speed, even when not pedalling.

 

 

The SRAM Force AXS groupset provides the latest in shifting technologies, offering 12-speed electronic shifting. This ensures that the rider has a range of gears that allows them to climb steep gradients while also continuing to pedal at speeds beyond what is possible on an 11-speed groupset. They also use the SRAM HRD disc brakes to provide confidence and predictability in the stopping power of the bike.

The Cervelo S5 frame is aerodynamically orientated, designed for performance. This means that considerations had to be made when fitting the rider, as well as determining the right frame size. The above-average length of the top tube was ideal for this taller rider and also provided the benchmark when selecting the stem length for the bike, all determined using the Retul Bike Fitting Technology.

 

 

The bike is equipped with CeramicSpeed oversized jockey wheels and a coated bottom bracket, meaning that all drivetrain power losses are reduced, helping to ensure that the rider can follow the break. Similarly important, the use of Continental’s GP5000 TL tyre in a 30mm variety means an abundance of grip, as well as comfort.

Cervelo uses an in-house handle & stem combination that provides both an aerodynamic advantage, as well as a clean look to the front of the bike.
